Main Events
March
We hold separate conferences for men, women, and teens that are looking to grow spiritually and spend time in fellowship together

August
The Congreso.  This is the biggest event of the year.  Every tribe in the Peruvian Amazon travel days on end to be a part of the four day conference.  There are programs for both adults and children all day, as well as a medical clinic which is opened throughout.  The villagers receive housing and food the entire time and we require around 70 - 80 helpers for the project to run smoothly.
This past year there were 47 tribes and 1400 villagers that participated.  Over 300 people accepted Christ and 212 people were baptized.  In the clinic over 400 people were treated.

December
Christmas Toys for villagers.  This is one event that every villager eagerly awaits.  Altogether over 2500 toys are given to the children of the villages within the Amazon.

While these three events are the staples of our ministry, work is being done constantly throughout the year.  Every one of the 30 villages under Jorge's ministry are visited and helped.  We strive to mentor and grow the churches within these villages, bringing food and supplies to accommodate various needs that they may also have.  We can use missionaries that are willing to help with any aspect of our ministry, but can also accommodate individuals and groups that wish to visit and fellowship with certain villages.  It is possible to bring villages together and hold conferences for them if there is such a desire by a church group or organization (10 days required for stay in Peru).  For groups wanting to build churches, 12 days are required.  Altogether there is room for 10 people to come down and stay the entire year if anyone wants to do so.
Special Needs
Congreso

We are in need of some qualified medical practicioners (preferably physicians but can be nurses and other medical specialists) to run the clinic.  We could also use a dentist to help with the vast amount of cases within the jungle.

 Conference Speakers

For the conferences in March and for the Congreso, we are looking for accomplished speakers that have a heart for mentoring and preaching the Word to the villagers of the Amazon Jungle.

 A Servant Heart

No matter the time of year, we are seeking youth and young adults who are willing to give up their time to help the people of Peru.  Through your sacrifice, we know that you will be blessed and changed by the experience that you will have.

Missions in the Amazon's Children's Ministry : Sharing the gospel and love of Jesus Christ to the children of all ages through puppets, clowns, singers, and teachers of biblical stories.

* The Children's Ministry has as a vision to work with all the children of the Amazon within South America.  We have formed a team of men and women that are willing to give their time, strengths, lives and a special love for the children. This ministry is interdenominational and it works with all the Christian churches found throughout.

* We focus our ministry on the villages of the Amazon and poor places of Iquitos, such as parks and other gathering places.

* We need more volunteers/missionaries that want to work with children and churches from the United States that want to work with children in the Peruvian Amazon.

* Needs of materials for the children ministry of Missions in the Amazon is having more puppets, customs, clown clothes, materials for painting, offerings for refreshments to the kids (sandwiches and drinks).

* For Christmas, we have a special event that we do for the children from the Amazon villages. We collect 2,500 gifts, which we buy with the offerings that we received and we travel in a special boat to distibute them in their villages.  Our trip is from December 1-10th and we would love you to be a part of making these kids' dreams come true!

* If you are interested in supporting us with materials or with an offering, it would be a wonderful blessing for us and for all the children that we work with.  Also, if you want to be a part of this ministry, as a single person, family, or church, we would love to have you and guarantee you will have your own experience that will change your life!

Orphanage Background Info:
Location
The orphanage is found in Maypuco, Peru, which is several miles downstream of the large village San Pedro.

Travel
It takes around 40 hours to reach Maypuco from Iquitos on a barge.

What's Needed?
Supplies for beds, tables, bathrooms, generators, painting, wood, medical supplies, kitchen utilities, and beds for the children.
In the near future Jorge and his ministry hopes to open up and operate an orphanage.  Aventuras Misioneras strongly believes in helping with poor and impoverished children throughout the Amazon.  The building shown on the left has been purchased by offerings collected by a missionary couple, Katy and Isaac Helms, and is located in Maypuco, Peru.  The orphange will be called "Bet Shalon" (which means house of peace and love), and is located in a prime location in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, where children can come from many villages to receive love and a place of support.  Ksty and Isaac are missionaries that experienced the Amazon with Jorge several years ago and have committed their lives to Jorge's ministry and are going to head up the operation by working full-time at the orphanage.  In the building itself, there are individual rooms for the kids, a kitchen and dining area, a living room, and a spacious backyard for the kids to play in.  As the operation gets closer to completion, there will be more opportunities for volunteering and visiting.  Currently though, much more support is needed to get started.  The orphanage has a need for beds, tables, chairs, stoves, bathrooms, painting , a well, generator of light, water bomb, lights, and other construction projects, so if you are interested in helping, please contact us!
Katy & Isaac Helms can be seen with Jorge and his family (along with another missionary) on the right of the picture.  They will be graduating from bible seminary in the next year and are eager to begin work on the orphanage mentioned above.  They will be the sole operators of the project, and with a little help from the church in Maypuco and some donor support, they hope to open up the orphanage shortly for the many orphaned children throughout the Amazon.  Their work will be dependent on offerings that they receive so if you would like to be a part of their ministry, they would greatly appreciate it!  They are able to use donations, and also love to have volunteers come and work alongside them.

:: A little bit of history of our Christmas Toys for Villagers ministry:
In 1993 , we started with two young Americans eager to help.  Their vision was to give gifts to the children of the Amazon every Christmas and God has blessed this vision every single year.
Together with Jorge, they worked in the jungle from May of 1993 to May 1994. They have made a lasting image in the Peruvian Amazon.
Currently, both stay immersed in their studies and their passion to change people's lives.
